Town twinning strengthens mutual understanding

"Twinning of local governments is considered to be a driving force of growth and development of the European Union," points out Oldřich Vlasák, Chairman of SMO CR (Association of Towns and Municipalities CR), a Member of European Parliament and an Executive President of CEMR.

"This is also one of the reasons why, while looking for future of further development of EU, CEMR organizes conferences and develops a number of other activities that support this twinning. At present Europe town twinning can strengthen mutual understanding and dialogue and thus strengthen awareness of common European identity and fellow feeling as well as admiration to the immense richness that we find here."
